Several of my local friends and I just had a joint experience. --- The earth moved for us in Toronto. Buildings rocking. Gently, not violently, but definitely swaying.

We don't get many of those earthquake things in these parts. And they were predicting a tornado watch for today. Wonder what we'll get this weekend when Obama and the rest of the G20 are here.

UPDATE: Apparently it was a 5.5 quake, felt through the central and eastern parts of North America. Reports were coming from Brooklyn. So I WASN'T imagining it.

Everyone's fine here, though I hear a small bridge collapsed in the next province, Quebec. As far as I know there were no injuries.

It's pretty freaky, eh? Did you feel it? Were you home and what did Ruby and Tux do? I was just sitting through "Shrek 4" and swore I felt three different tremors in the theater. It freaked me out a little and I was glad to get the heck out of there.

I was home. I felt it. It was as if I was riding a horse for about 20 seconds. It wasn't scary. It didn't get rough enough to be scary. I felt sort of incredulous that it was happening.

Now they say animals sense these things are about to happen. A little before the quake, Ruby had come into the room and gotten into the old office chair near me.

After the quake, a grumpy-looking Tux showed up. He usually snoozes through the afternoon in my bedroom closet. I guess the quake forced him out of the closet a little early!
