A writer for the Orlando Sentinel posted some thoughts on this coming Thursday's episode to his blog.

Slightly SPOILERISH so stay out if you don't want to know.

A terrific "CSI": Sara Sidle leaves in classic style
Posted on Nov 12, 2007 8:02:07 AM

Jorja Fox's Sara Sidle leaves "CSI" Thursday night. No matter how you feel about that development, the episode is tremendous. All actors who depart long-running series should receive such heartfelt, memorable sendoffs.

The episode, titled "Goodbye & Good Luck," skillfully makes you feel Sara's disillusionment. She witnesses an eerie case of domestic abuse and remains strangely remote.

But the real crisis for Sara arrives with the return of Marlon West (Douglas Smith) and his genius little sister, Hannah (Juliette Goglia). Last time out, Marlon got away with murder with Hannah's help. This time he is implicated in a young woman's plunge from her dorm room.

In the previous case, Hannah got under Sara's skin. The show has brought back the little girl to needle Sara again. Goglia pulls off her task brilliantly.

As Sara seeks justice, the episode takes turns that are clever or harrowing. Can she finish the case?

The cinematography heightens the Sara's nightmarish estrangement. "CSI" has won fans as a smart procedural, but the show also can present the personal in vivid terms. Fox plays Sara's sadness with such wrenching and relatable feeling that this episode becomes an instant classic.

I"ve also found  a Yahoo Video preview for this week's episode. It's Sara and Hannah.

Not a Sara fan anymore, but I am looking forward to this episode. I haven't seen much in the way of spoilers for it- aside from it being Sara's last episode. I do hope we get a good moment between her and Nick- it'd be kinda cool to see the two of them finally get Marlon- and his sister for interfering with a criminal investigation or something as well (can't think of the technical term right now...).

It definitely has a lot of potential. I just hope they don't make her spend the majority of her time in this final episode with just Grissom/Greg. She needs to interact with everyone to a degree, and more than just to say 'goodbye'.

Something bothers me about the clip.

And that is that obviously from Hannah's comments, Sara's abduction got published in the papers. I wonder how much.

That's something we don't know about Nick's abduction. Did the media cover that? I rather doubt it. Otherwise, wouldn't he have been asked about it by someone involved in one of the cases since --- a witness, a family member, an associate of a victim? Or even better, the film crew in "I like to Watch"? We're getting far better filling in of Sara's aftermath than we ever got about Nick's.

Sara was the first character I liked on CSI, so I'm sad that she's leaving, but I'm really happy they've managed to keep the show going for so long without cutting too many characters (I still haven't forgiven them for Jacqui, and I want Bobby Dawson to come back, but you know what I mean). Besides, I can always do what I do with CSI:NY - just watch any and all episodes with Sara when I miss her character on the show. Works for Aiden, works for Speedle (though I do love his replacement), so why not Sara?

I agree with you about Nick's abduction, it seems a bit odd that it's NEVER come up in a conversation, not EVER, but then again he apparently "dealt with" the whole evil Texan last minute baby sitter, so maybe logic doesn't apply to Nicky's character. Yes, I'm being sarcastic and huffy now, I'll just go away : )

I don't want you to go away. I love your opinions.

BTW *whispers* Bobby Dawson's in the credits for next week!

I needed sleep. Bad. Back for a bit now, though..

And just so you know, you might want to be a bit careful concerning what you ask for, my opinions can be somewhat odd. But they're apparently also very entertaining, so perhaps you'll be fine : ) I'd check with [livejournal.com profile] ic789 if I were you, she'd probably know..

And airpunch for Bobby Dawson! Now if I can only find a torrent for episode 8x01 that will actually let me dl it, I can start watching season 8, I've got everything besides that epi (and the one that just was about 12 hours ago)..
