Now that's good news. David and Gillian were at Wonder-Con and a preview of the movie was shown. Doesn't reveal much beside Billy Connolly being in the film.

Two stills are out:

Duchovny also threw down the gauntlet when talking about the X-Files vs shows on TV now. Supposedly this was in reference to CSI.

"I think to give all the respect to Chris [Carter] and Frank [Spotnitz] that they deserve, I think the story telling in X-Files was a lot more sophisticated than those shows. I think you go to the movies for the philosophical battle and the drama of solving a case with intellect."

I do remember that by the end of the X-Files I felt as misled and disappointed by the writing as I've recently felt by CSI. So I don't know that this means much. Still, I'm looking forward to the movie in the summer.

I'm so glad that this movie is getting made. Thanks for the heads-up. A unique thing to the X-Files during the series was that most of the episodes were directed and produced by the same person; Chris Carter was capable of doing that very well.

I'm not surprised that David Duchovny would comment on the current TV show status, it's part of the business.

True. I can only imagine what might have happened to the X-Files if it had two spin-offs that siphoned off the early creative staff. I know some of the writers of The X-Files left during the series, but it always was helmed by Chris Carter and it kept his basic vision.

I'm one of the few people who never got to see much of the X-Files because during it's run I was moving in and out of Germany. At the time AFN was always one season, if not more, behind so when I left there, I got here and missed a season, then I went back and they didn't show it again and I ended up missing like two seasons. By the time I got back here I was too frustrated to keep going with it. I'm sure I'll end up getting the seasons from the library or netflix someday and watching them.
